2013 Slavic Choral Festival

Greetings

The first 2013 Slavic Choral Festival will begin in Prague, Czech Republic and conclude in Krakow, Poland.  The trip is open to 'singers' and 'non-singers' from the greater Southern California area.  We have a maximum of 58 people for the June 20-30, 2013 Slavic Choral Festival tour.

To facilitate your review of the Itinerary and Repertoire (see attachments) a general meeting of everyone interested will be held Monday evening February 27th at 7:00 PM in the Nakano Theatre, Torrance Cultural Arts Center Campus.  At that time questions will be answered, specific rehearsal dates to begin April, 2013 will be given along with providing any information not currently included.

The touring itinerary is constructed to allow plenty of personal 'free' time in both cities yet enough time to collectively tour many incredible places of interest.  Up to 5 choirs from the Prague, Czech Republic and Krakow, Poland will join us.  Perhaps other choirs from Europe and America as well.

The ten Festival repertoire selections will feature a Czech Republic and an American conductor in Prague and then a Polish and an American conductor in Warsaw.  Each 2013 Slavic Choral Festival choir will be given up to 10 minutes to perform their own Festival choral selections.  The California choir will be given an evening to concertize in Krakow, Poland by ourselves (see itinerary) following the Festival's conclusion.

2013 Slavic Choral Festival repertoire with examples from Utube are performances for you to enjoy.  These selections are not necessarily in concert order.

This special invitation to become a 'Founding Choir' for this first ever 2013 Slavic Choral Festival is an opportunity of a lifetime.  Our singing venues in Prague and Krakow will come from options selected by the Festival Committee.  Each Cathedral venue under consideration is historical and world famous with maximum seating of 850 in Prague and 1,000 in Krakow for the largest seating possible.

Please take time to review the materials and consider the first 2013 Slavic Choral Festival.  Should you wish any additional information before February 27th, please contact David Burks, Artistic Director and Conductor, Torrance Civic Chorale at (310) 372-1380 or by email at burksmb@msn.com

Otherwise I'll see you Monday evening, February 27th at 7:00 in the Nakano Theatre for kick-off 2013 Slavic Choral Festival.

Best wishes,
David Burks
